Providing a range of retail products for your lash clients is THE easiest way to create additional income for your business.
Think about it: It can take maybe 1 minute to run a client through the benefits and the directions for a product and another minute to complete the transaction for it.
You can make an additional $20-30 in just 2 minutes of work. Compare that to how long it takes to make the same amount applying extensions or providing another lash service.
Over the space of a year, you could be bringing thousands of extra dollars in revenue!
Don’t be afraid of upselling your clients on products that will help them care for their natural lashes and extend the life of their extensions. It’s a win for both of you!
You don’t have to be salesy or pushy. After their appointment, simply let your client know that you stock a range of products that can help them care for their lashes. If they’d like to know more, just run them through some of the benefits. You’ll be surprised how often this easy little prompt will be enough to spark their interest.
If they’ve just spent their hard earned money on a fresh set of extensions or other services, it only makes sense they’d want to do whatever they can to make them last.
Below we’ve created a list of the basics you should be stocking as part of your retail range:
The most important part of lash aftercare is ensuring that your clients keep their lashes clean.
A foaming cleanser will help to remove dirt, oil, makeup, and other residue that can cause early shedding of your client’s extensions.
An added benefit: you’ll notice that any clients who use a foaming cleanser regularly will come back for their appointments with much fuller lashes.
If you have clients who seem to be doing all the right things to care for their lashes but are still having trouble with retention, then a coating sealant is the perfect troubleshooting tool to have at your disposal.
Available in both a clear solution or a dark mascara-like solution, a coating sealant provides a protective layer that helps maintain the adhesive bond between the extensions and the natural lash.
These can be both used at the end of a clients appointment and can be used by your clients at home daily to maintain their extensions for longer.
If you only stock 1 lash retail product, then a complete at-home lash aftercare kit is the way to go. These little beauties contain a foaming cleanser, cleansing brush, and a mascara wand to give your clients everything they need to cleanse and care for their lashes at home.
At My Lash Store, we stock both ready to go lash aftercare kits as well as white label versions where you can supply and apply your own labels to have your very own, professional looking aftercare range.
Retail products can be a good way to get additional income as a lash artist. Just be sure you know the in and out of what you’re selling – after all, you want to be selling something you actually believe in!
